Enhancing Newlands Intermediate School’s facilities
Our delivery partner Switched On Building Solutions is proud to support Newlands Intermediate School in Wellington to maintain its learning environments for students. This partnership with the school developed through the Wellington team’s close relationship with Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira. This kaupapa, led by maintenance expert Floris Cloete, showcases our shared commitment to improving educational facilities and strengthening community ties in our local areas.
Revitalising learning spaces
One of the primary focuses of the mahi at the intermediate so far has been repainting parts of the school's reception, foyer and hallways, breathing new life into the kura environment and creating a fresh and vibrant atmosphere for students and staff. Meticulous trades ensure that the newly painted walls are not only visually appealing but also durable and easy to maintain.
Building on this success, the team has also completed exterior paintwork and refreshed the school hall – no easy feat with five-metre-high ceilings. These projects aim to further enhance the school's appearance and functionality, ensuring a welcoming learning environment for years to come.
Prioritising student well-being spaces
A repaint of the school's sick bay and bathroom was a key component of our work in 2024 too, with a fresh coat transforming the space. These improvements have supported a comfortable space for students needing medical attention during school hours.
